José Camón Aznar
José Camón Aznar was born in Zaragoza in 1898 and died in Madrid in 1979, a few months before what is now known as the Goya Museum – Ibercaja Collection, housing his art legacy, opened its doors to the public.
He was a professor at the universities of Salamanca, Zaragoza and Madrid. An academic at many institutions like the Royal Academy of History, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando and the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, he was the author of a vast body of work related to the arts and letters. He directed the Lázaro Galdiano Museum and founded Goya magazine.
He was a philosopher, essayist, art critic and compulsive art collector, as can be seen in part of the collection exhibited in this museum.
