Don Balthasar Charles, Prince of Spain
Technical details
Description
The original canvas is one of Velázquez’s best and most charming portraits, with the attire and bearing of a general (sash and baton) contrasting with the childish look of the six-year-old model. Prince Balthasar Charles, the hope of Spain, died in Zaragoza in adolescence. Technically, the print is well made and the cloud background is excellent.
