Description
The sculpture Woman, made in 1947, showed the fully developed artistic range of Honorio García Condoy, who continued to show his interest in the female nude along avant-garde lines. Here he focuses on empty space in contrast with solidity, in a determined shift towards Abstract art with hints of Post-Cubism. This female figure, with its flat and concave face, prominent breasts, compact lower limbs and sinuous curves show evident references to the hollow sculptures by the Aragonese artist Pablo Gargallo and a number of parallels with the sculptures by Henry Moore in those years.
