Artistic analysis
Damián Forment was one of the most important sculptors of the Crown of Aragon, creating works of great significance such as the altarpiece of the Basilica del Pilar and that of Huesca Cathedral. This child may have been sculpted to be part of an altarpiece or tomb. Carved in alabaster, it is depicted in a highly foreshortened pose, with the body twisted sharply to look in the opposite direction from where it stands. It is reminiscent of the Italian putti created by Donatello.
