In order to create a better final product, Bayeu drew a series of preliminary studies of the composition and the figures. These two figures are preparatory studies for the work Jupiter Defeating the Giants with the Help of Hercules and Minerva. The first depicts a fallen Titan raising his head and left arm, and the second is a study of a fallen Titan lying on his back, dead.
