Artistic analysis

Pradilla trained in Zaragoza under the set designer Mariano Pescador, which explains his mastery of landscape painting. In 1874 he went to Rome on a scholarship for three years; from there he sent the corresponding works, in which he already showed himself to be a keen observer of environmental realism. In this landscape we can see the Huesca countryside; on a mountain, the tower of the village castle can be made out at the summit.
