Marcelino de Unceta
Artistic analysis
Among the genres of painting explored by Marcelino de Unceta are history painting, bullfighting posters and military history illustration. His fascination with military subjects may stem from the fact that, before beginning his studies in painting, he had embarked on a career in the army. The composition depicts an open field with a group of soldiers on horseback taking a break from their duties. To our left, we can see a row of trees framing the scene.
